Jarred Dewey

Jarred Dewey grew up as a member of ‘Cirkidz’, an Adelaide based youth circus with whom he trained, performed and toured with for over five years. He was also a founding member of the Adelaide based Rambutan Circus Collective, which was awarded best circus/theatre show by an emerging ensemble in the 2007 Adelaide Fringe for its season of Menagerie In 2010.

Jarred graduated from the Bachelor of Circus Arts at NICA, where he specialised in Contortion, Handstands and Swinging Trapeze. He also received the Con Colleano Award for outstanding achievement in his first year at NICA.

In 2011 Jarred received an Australia Council ArtStart Grant to assist him make the challenging transition from studying to having a professional career in the arts.

Jarred’s circus credits include performances at Adelaide Fringe, BMW Edge Theatre with A4 Circus Company, Woodford Folk Festival, The French Film Festival Opening as well as an appearance in the Australian feature film, Hey, Hey It’s Esther Blueberger.

Jarred describes himself as being drawn to projects that push the boundaries of circus, and has already made a name for himself, having been described as one of Australia’s best male contortionists and trapeze artists by After Dark Theatre.
